LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

History
The Village of Newtown owns and maintains Flagg Spring Cemetery since taking over its operation from the Odd Fellows Lodge in 1980. It is located at 3541 Round Bottom Road.

Flagg Spring Cemetery has graves dating back to the early 19th century. Many of those buried there were the first settlers in this area who founded Newtown, formerly known as Mercersburg.

Operation
The cemetery is operated in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio as in accordance with the appropriate principles of good conduct, which the Cemetery Committee and Board of Trustees believe should govern the operation on the cemetery.

Cemetery records are maintained at the Newtown Administration Building, 3536 Church Street. Information and assistance regarding burials, deeds, transfers, etc. are available Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Call Mike Schmidt at 271.2009.

Bequests and donations may be made to the Cemetery Fund. Additional information is available at Town Hall.
