Memorial Letter
September 22, 2008
The Newtown Veterans Tribute Tower project has been modified. There are several reasons for this, one of which is the lack of restroom facilities at the Moore Funeral Home original site. The Newtown Veterans Tribute Tower Committee wishes to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Mark Moore for his generous offer of the property adjacent to his Funeral Home.
After careful deliberation, the Newtown Veterans Committee decided to change the concept of the Veterans Tribute from a Tower to a Memorial Wall and Bronze Statues depicting military personnel from each of our armed forces, together with various tributes to our fallen comrades in arms. It was also decided to relocate the Tribute from its original site to the upper level of Moundview Park on Newtown Rd.
All donations will continue to be received by the Friends of Newtown. Please make all checks payable to:

Imagine if the walls in a clinic could talk - what would they say? At DaVita, thousands of walls talk; telling stories that touch lives across the country, making the day brighter in even the smallest way for patients that face a rigorous procedure several days a week. At DaVita, patients, caregivers and teammates (DaVita employees) in over 1,300 clinics across the country share their stories every day on the DaVita Wall of Fame through pictures, stories and lots of laughter. The DaVita Wall of Fame is a collection of pictures and facts about teammates and patients grouped around a fun theme along a highly-visible wall in the clinic. As patients and their caregivers get to know each other better, they also continue to create an enhanced sense of community, engagement and a little fun along the way. DaVita Center Name has recently completed its 2008 Wall of Fame and will unveil it at a center celebration attended by patients, teammates and family members.

Newtown Residents Recycled 146.21 Tons in 2007!
Congratulations Newtown residents! In 2007, you recycled 146.21 tons of metal, glass, plastic, and paper. Your recycling efforts benefited the environment and the local economy in a big way.
The recycling efforts in Newtown saved the equivalent of:
- 1,280 trees
- 6,302 gallons of gasoline
- Enough energy to power 19 average homes for an entire year
- 121 tons of greenhouse gases - equivalent to removing 96 cars from the road
Recycling reduces pollution so the air we breathe is cleaner, conserves natural resources so we will have them to use in the future, and decreases the amount of waste going to the landfill. Recycling also boosts our local economy by creating 169,000 jobs and $6 billion in annual wages just in the state of Ohio.
On average, each household in Newtown recycled 316 pounds in 2007. That's a lot of pop cans and newspapers! If you would like to see even more material recycled in 2008, check out the list below to make sure you include all these materials in your recycling bin. Don't have a bin? Newtown makes it easy.
