THOMAS SYNAN, JR., CHIEF OF POLICE

Chief Synan is a graduate of Milford High School. Chief Synan graduated from Scarlet Oaks Police Academy after serving in the United States Marine Corps. He is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College. He is a 13-year veteran of the Newtown Police Division, and has completed specialized training in several areas, including Human Diversity, Hotel/Motel Criminal Interdiction, Narcotic Investigations, Child Sexual Abuse, Critical Incidents, Terrorist Identification, Crime Prevention/Community Relations and is a Certified Field Training Officer, as well as a Police Mountain Bike Instructor. Chief Synan is assigned to Patrol Operations Command, Crime Prevention, Division Training, and he is the Commander of the Newtown Police Honor Guard Unit, which was created in 2004. He is a member of the Ohio Crime Prevention Association, the International Police Mountain Bike Association, Hamilton County SWAT and F.O.P. Lodge #112.

SERGEANT SHAWN MCBREEN

Sergeant McBreen is a graduate of Lakota High School. Sergeant McBreen graduated from the Butler County Police Academy. He has been an officer with the Newtown Police Division since 2001. He was previously a Loss Prevention Specialist at Meijers Department Stores. Sergeant McBreen has completed specialized training in several areas, including Loss Prevention, Crime Scene Evidence Collection, Evidence and Property Room Management, Incident Negotiations, Civil Liability, and Sexual Assaults. Sergeant McBreen is a member of F.O.P. Lodge #112, and the Butler County Farm Bureau. Sergeant McBreen is assigned to Evidence Room Management, Field Training Officer, and is a Certified Crime Scene Evidence Technician. He is also a member of the Newtown Police Honor Guard Unit.

OFFICER SPENCER BISCHOFF

Officer Bischoff is a graduate of Mariemont High School and the Great Oaks Police Academy. He earned his degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Cincinnati. He has been an officer with the Newtown Police Division since late 2002. He was previously a corrections officer with the Hamilton County Sheriffs Office, and a police officer in the Village of Terrace Park.

OFFICER KENT ORSO

Officer Orso is a graduate of Purcell-Marian High School, where he was inducted into the National Honor Society. Officer Orso graduated from the Great Oaks Police Academy. He has been an officer with the Newtown Police Division since 2002. He was previously a police dispatcher and a police officer in the City of Golf Manor since 1996. Officer Orso has extensive specialized training and knowledge of computer systems.

OFFICER ROSE FREDERICK
Officer Frederick is a graduate of Batavia High School and Live Oaks Career Development Center. Officer Frederick graduate from the University of Cincinnati Police Academy, Clermont Branch. She has been an officer with the Newtown Police Division since late 2002. Officer Frederick attended the University of Cincinnati, where she earned an Associate Degree in Pre-Social work, as well as an Associate, and a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice. She was previously employed at a security firm in Cincinnati. Officer Frederick has completed specialized training in Business Technologies, as well as Advanced Detection, Apprehension and Prosecution of DUI offenders. She is a member of the Business Professionals of America.

OFFICER JAMES VONTZ

Officer Vontz is a graduate of Mead Sr. High School in Fort Meade, Maryland. Officer Vontz graduated from Southern Hills Police Academy, located in Brown County. He has been an officer with the Newtown Police Division since late 2002. Officer Vontz served in the United States Army. He was previously a police officer with the City of Georgetown, Ohio, since 1992. Officer Vontz has received extensive specialized training in firearms, and is assigned as a Firearms Instructor. He is a licensed pilot, and also a member of the Newtown Police Honor Guard Unit.

OFFICER JEFFREY BRAUN

Officer Braun is a graduate of Milford High School. Officer Braun graduated from the Butler County Police Academy. Officer Braun has been a Newtown Police Officer since late 2004. He was previously employed as a police officer with the Village of Newtownsville. Officer Braun has received specialized training in Death Investigations, Auto Crash Investigations, Intermediate Weapons, and HazMat Incidents.

OFFICER RICHARD KAISER
Officer Kaiser is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati Police Academy, Clermont Branch. Officer Kaiser has been an officer of the Newtown Police Division since March 2005, and was previously employed as a police officer by the Village of Williamsburg. He has received specialized training in Loss Prevention, Death Investigations, and TASERs.

OFFICER ROBERT HUBER
Officer Huber is a graduate of the Great Oaks Police Academy, after serving in the United States Marine Corps. Officer Huber has been an officer of the Newtown Police Division since March 2005. He has received specialized training in the concepts of Community Policing, Narcotics Identification, and Advanced Detection, Apprehension and Prosecution of DUI offenders. He is also a member of the Newtown Police Honor Guard Unit.

OFFICER CHARLES WILSON
Officer Wilson is a graduate of the Hamilton County Police Academy. Officer Wilson has been an officer of the Newtown Police Division since September 2005, and was previously employed as a Deputy Sheriff of the Hamilton County Sheriffs Office. He has 35 plus years experience in law enforcement and traffic safety.

OFFICER CHARLES J. POPOV
Officer Charles J. Popov recently joined the Village of Newtown Police Force. Officer Popov was previously employed by the Terrace Park Police Department. He joined the ranks of the police division in Jan 2006, and is currently completing the in-house FTO program.

OFFICER DANIEL MALOTT
Officer Malott is a graduate of Turpin High school and the University of Cincinnati Police Academy. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice at U.C., graduating Cum Laude. He is a 13-year veteran of the Newtown Police Division. He was previously a Loss Prevention Specialist at McAlpin's Department Stores. Officer Malott has completed specialized training in several areas, including Human Diversity, Loss Prevention, and Close Quarter Personal Control. Officer Malott is also a Probation officer for the Clermont County Courts.

OFFICER BRUCE TAYLOR
Officer Taylor has been an officer with the Newtown Police Division since 2002. He also works for the Hamilton County Prosecutors Office in an investigative capacity. Officer Taylor has extensive training and experience in investigations.
