The Course:
3.1 miles over residential streets. Splits at every mile. USATF Certified course, relatively flat. First aid and water on the course. Begins and ends at Moundview Park, 3130 Newtown Road.

Divisions
Male and female runners divisions for the following age groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70 & over. A separate award will be given for corporate team competition. A corporate team sponsorship of $125.00 will cover a maximum of 7 runners. Male and female walkers divisions for the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over.

Awards
Trophies to the top 10% of all divisions based on pre-registration. Special awards to overall male and female runner and walker, and first Newtown male and female. Minimum of two to form a division.

Fees
Pre-registration is $15, postmarked by August 1, 2006. This includes a free commemorative T-shirt. After August 1, 2006, the cost for race participation is $15 and T-shirt is $10.

The Greater Newtown Civic League is a local, non-profit civic organization whose activities include financing scholarships for deserving Newtown High School Seniors, funding capital improvement projects for Newtown parks, an annual senior citizens dinner, the spring Easter Egg Hunt, the Newtown 5K Race, Christmas decorations for the Village and a Christmas hayride through Ivy Hills and Rivrhills subdivisions to view residential decorations.

The Newtown 5K Race is the only fundraising event conducted by the Civic League and takes place the second Saturday of August. They have been organizing this race for 22 years and it is regarded as one of the best 5K races in the tri-state area.
